Nigerians react to gospel singer Dunsin Oyekan’s criticism of Christians who listen to Asake and other non-gospel artists.

Dunsin Oyekan, a well-known gospel singer, has come out to criticize Christians who listen to commercial music yet still distribute it in public places.

Fans have responded after seeing him in a viral video criticizing Asake-listening believers.

He claims that those who listen to Asake and other secular singers are obviously in a confused situation since they are unable to hear from God.

He continued by saying he is always perplexed by the same individuals’ insistence that they are “unapologetically offspring of God.”

“You will see one secular musician,” he said, “when people were tagging some of us for their Spotify, Apple, and the people they listen to reviews for the year. Nathaniel Bassey will then appear. What is he doing there, I would ask.

“I’m baffled by your assurance; how do you think you’ll hear from God when you’re so confused?

Nathaniel Bassey does it for me but you simply played brother Asake. “Someone is telling you how it is with the world, another is telling you how it is with God, which one do you want to chose.

“And you have the audacity to post it online. When I check their profiles, I occasionally see the phrase “unashamedly a child of God.”

However, Nigerians’ reactions to Dunsin’s statement have been conflicted, as shown in the following:

Why can’t someone listen to secular music because they adore Jesus, @blaccmajek? However, unfit people dress in secular attire, watch secular films, and utilize secular objects.

“@Dhavidey: I sing Nzaza by Asake in tongues, but I can’t claim the same for any Nathaniel Bassey song.
