CAN expresses condolences to the Catholic Church for the murder of a priest who was lynched by bandits.

The Catholic Bishops Conference of Nigeria and the entire Catholic faithful have expressed their condolences to the CHRISTIAN ASSOCIATION OF NIGERIA over the heinous murder of Rev. Fr. Isaac Achi.

Achi, the Parish Priest of Ss Peter and Paul Church, Kafin-Koro in Niger State’s Paikoro Local Government Area, was lynched a few days ago by suspected bandits.

While praying for God to comfort his parishioners and other faithful, the apex Christian organization encouraged the government to strengthen the nation’s security framework to prevent repeat instances of the situations that led to Fr. Achi’s death.

“Fr. Achi, who was buried on Friday, has earned his place as a committed servant of God and minister of the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ on account of the high standards of ethics and devotion with which he discharged his responsibilities as a religious leader,” said CAN President Archbishop Daniel Okoh in a statement on Saturday.

“His death is a terrible development at a time when his parishioners and, by extension, other Christians in the country can benefit more from his leadership and sense of direction,” the statement continued. It is a great loss for the Church, where he served as a priest, guardian, and benefactor to many poor members of our community. He lives in our hearts because of his flawless records. His permanent imprints indicate that he would always be a part of the journey of many believers in Nigeria and around the world.

“As we condole with the entire Catholic Church at this period of mourning, CAN urges to the authorities to improve our internal and external security framework to stop future occurrences of such circumstances that led to Fr. Achi’s unexpected demise. Amen. “May his soul rest in perfect peace.”
