The Bible Never Said That Women Shouldn’t Wear Trousers – Apostle Joshua Selman
While preaching to his congregation about physical appearance, Apostle Joshua Selman, leader of the Eternity Network International and Convener of Koinonia Global, stated that the Bible does not imply women should not wear trousers.
To back up his claims, the monk cited a Bible text that says women should not wear what “parteineth” to men and claimed that Moses was only enforcing the code of brotherhood at the time. He stated that he researched the passage and learned that the term “parteineth,” as used in the phrase, is translated as “keliy” in Hebrew and implies a vessel or piece.
Furthermore, he stated that the word “man” employed in that text is not just man as we know it (Adam). He stated that when translated into Hebrew, the word “lysh” signifies soldier, warrior, or conflict. According to Apostle Selman, this implies that the Bible was speaking about men going to war, not women not wearing trousers.
He went on to say that the Bible promotes modesty and decency, not whether or not women wear trousers. As a result, the church should emphasize modesty.
