Church members who had been kidnapped have been released.

Three church members who had been assigned to provide a ransom were taken by the kidnappers.

Three people who were kidnapped on Tuesday from a Baptist church in Iwo, Osun State, were freed on Wednesday.

Six days prior, two church members were kidnapped as they were traveling back from their farms in the Ileogbo region of Osun State.

Later, the kidnappers requested a N10 million ransom, but the victims’ families were able to negotiate an N6 million payment.

At a location in Kogi State, three church members were chosen to deliver the money when the kidnappers also took them after receiving the payment.

However, a family source confirmed to our reporter that the two churchgoers who had been earlier kidnapped as well as one of the people who paid the ransom to the kidnappers had been freed on Wednesday morning.

According to the source, the relatives of the victims declined to talk with the kidnappers when they made a new ransom demand.

“Two out of the five that were abducted are still missing, though three of them were freed this morning. Your prayers are appreciated, the source stated.

The release was also confirmed by Yemisi Opalola, the police spokesperson for Osun State.

On Wednesday night, two of the churchgoers were still held captive.

Oluwatoyin Ojo’s wife, who was abducted last week, is still being held captive.

“They asked for more money, but we declined,” we said.

But Mrs. Ojo and other hostages will be freed, according to promises made by the Amotekun Corps and Osun State police.
