How to deal with Generational Issues in the Family

Dearest, today I would like to discuss how to stop chasing the wheel of our family traditions and keep on changing the results. Modern people unconsciously have “traits,” which are passed down to them by their ancestors that determine how people think, what people do, and how people make choices.

These patterns can be likened to software that functions in our heads; they dictate options we take on relationships, jobs, and issues to do with faith, among others. But let me assure you of this: God can change those programs!

1. Recognize the Family Program: Similar to executing software, your family may have genetically inherited specific characteristics or difficulties. Status quo, inability to accept failure, issues, and cycles of negativity are all passed on involuntarily. These patterns define how you live your life and what you can and cannot do.

2. Rewrite the Program with God’s Word: Jesus promised to change our hearts and write new laws within us (Jeremiah 31:33). This seems possible through **confession**—speaking not as the negative pattern one observes dictates. Appendix C – New Creation Copy and declaration – Say loud and clear, “I am a new creation in Christ.” I don’t have to be a prisoner of unfavorable circumstances in my family.”

3. Speak New Realities: That is why God said to Abraham, “A father of many nations I have made thee.” We must speak new things over our lives. Proclaim victory; proclaim prosperity; proclaim liberation from generational adversities. Use written word and the physiological reinforcement. The words you speak have the ability to change your life around.

4. Action Brings Transformation: This is not just the season where we pray and fast, but it is the season of work. As you open your mouth to speak and declare, begin to move towards the new you. Rewriting your program, simply implies the idea of change; new things, new people, and, more importantly, new ways of doing things in line with God’s word.

This should not be the time you remain bound by the old family programs when you can be liberated for the divine new plan for your life.
