Serena Williams was baptized and gave her life to Christ.
Serena Williams became a Jehovah’s Witness four months after retiring from tennis. Serena Williams, the 23-time Grand Slam singles champion, was baptized as a Jehovah’s Witness on Sunday, marking a watershed moment for the recently retired tennis great.
The baptism took place at the West Palm Beach Jehovah’s Witness Assembly in Florida.
Serena, who announced her retirement from the court in September of last year, had previously expressed her desire to focus on her family and faith after leaving the game.
She is renowned for her outstanding achievements over a two-decade career, winning 23 grand slam titles, the most by any player in the open era and the second-most of all time.
“It’s important to me to be a Jehovah’s Witness, but I’ve never really practiced it and have been wanting to get into it.” Serena revealed this in an interview with Vogue.
