Jesus desires to set you free.

‘However, when Jesus saw her, He called her to Him and said to her, “Woman, you are free from your infirmity.” NKJV Luke 13:12

‘There was a woman who had a spirit of infirmity for eighteen years, and was bent over and could in no way raise herself up,’ the Bible says. But when Jesus saw her, He called her to Him and said, “Woman, you are free from your infirmity.” (NKJV) Luke 13:11–12. In this story, four elements stand out: the person, the problem, the Great Physician, and the prescription. There will be a problem for everyone, including you. But, more importantly, the Great Physician has a solution for every problem, including yours. Jesus’ first response to the problem in this woman’s life is a command, not a suggestion for counseling: ‘You are loosed!’ Christian counsellors are a gift from God, but there is often more to maintaining deliverance than just talking about past trauma. What should have been commanded was not counseled by Jesus. After you’ve examined the problem and determined its cause, you’ll need the authority of God’s Word to put the past behind you! This woman was suffering as a result of something that had happened to her eighteen years before, but her trauma was as fresh that day as it had been the day before. While her problem was rooted in the past, her solution could only be found in God’s present word. The Living Word, Jesus, is “the same yesterday, today, and forever” (Hebrews 13:8 NKJV). That is to say, the word you are hearing today has the power to heal your past! ‘Woman, you are delivered from your infirmity,’ Jesus said. Why did Jesus not address her by name? Because His promise applies to everyone.
