RCCG Assistant General Overseer died at the age of 90.

Aboaba was a University of Ibadan Emeritus Professor of Agricultural Engineering.
Prof. Folagbade Aboaba, the Redeemed Christian Church of God’s Assistant General Overseer, has died.

Aboaba dies on Monday, January 23, 2023, at the age of 90, following a brief illness.

He was said to be one of Pastor Enoch Adeboye’s closest allies as General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God.

Prof Folarin Alonge, national chairman of the Nigeria Institute of Agricultural Engineers, announced Aboaba’s death in a statement.

Alonge described the deceased as a lovely and cheerful person who served as a mentor to several people and professors.

“One of our Fathers in the profession, Prof. Fola Aboaba, has gone home,” he wrote. He was a Professor of Professors of Professors of Professors.

“Prof Folagbade Olajide Aboaba was an Emeritus Professor of Agricultural Engineering and the Founding Dean of the Faculty of Technology at the University of Ibadan” (1976–1982). I was fortunate to have him as a teacher in both my undergraduate and Masters’s classes. He served as a mentor to a number of people and professors.

“He was the Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Universities Vice-Chancellors Committee” (1992–1998). He was the first Provost of Redeemers University (2005–2013). He was the Chairman of the Governing Council of the Lagos-based Federal Institute of Industrial Research Oshodi (FIIRO) (1976–1979).

“He passed away at the age of 90.

“I spoke with him on September 15, 2023, while we were preparing for the NIAE conference in Asaba” (Delta State). ‘Thank you,’ he says when I ask about him. Slowly but steadily aging. God be praised. ‘May God bless you’. Baba was a wonderful, cheerful, and kind man.

“He was one of the NIAE’s founding members. He was a key figure in the establishment of the National Centre for Agricultural Mechanization in Ilorin, alongside other fathers. He made significant contributions to the expansion of NSAE (NIAE). His last major public lecture for NIAE was in 2004 when we were invited to the Presidential Villa in Abuja by the then Vice President. NIAE National Chairman at the time was the late Prof John Ohu. He was always interested in hearing about NIAE’s progress.

“He was a member of both the American Society of Agricultural and Biological Engineers (ASABE) and the Institution of Agricultural Engineers UK.

“May his soul rest in God for all eternity?”
